Valley Home & Garden Centre was started by the owner's father, Jack Pihl, in 1968. Originally named Big Y Feeds we opened as a feed and grain business. We received our grain deliveries via railroad box cars at the store and delivered feed and grain all across New England. Many years later we added hardware to our store, but even today, over 40 years and three generations later, we continue to be the area experts for animal feed. Our knowledge of animal feeds is extensive, as both of the current owners were raised on dairy & horse farms in Southwick, Massachusetts.
Our goal is to serve you the customer with the highest level of service, knowledge and quality products. We support our local farmers by selling high quality, locally grown hay and straw. In addition, we maintain a large inventory of shavings, woody pellets, denji and other bedding materials for your animals. We also carry Strongid, Rounders horse treats and have a wide selection of grooming supplies, de-wormers, tack and electric fencing supplies.
Customers that require grain delivery in the greater Farmington Valley should contact us about arranging delivery service. We can set-up regular delivery schedules and eliminate the chore of getting supplies for your animals.

We carry several brands of bird seed and suet to appeal to every species of birds. Brands include Blue Seal, Lyric and Scott's. Many years ago we developed our own mix of birdseed known as Special Mix. This has been a favorite of the community ever since and attracts a variety of local birds, and of course the occasional squirrel.
